Baseball Set to Open 2018 Campaign

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Golden West College baseball team is set to open there season on Friday January 26th at 2pm against the Palomar College Comets. 

The 2018 squad is looking to build off of last year's team that finished the season in the 1st round of playoffs. Returners on the mound LHP Troy Bethel, RHP Kamalu Simeona, and RHP Kenny Carrillo will be major contributors again this year. Bethel threw 57.2 innings going 3-2 in 8 starts, Simeona threw 18 innings with a 2-1 record, and Carrillo threw 34.2 innings going 1-3 in 5 starts. 

Offensively the Rustlers are returning a top bat in Zakk Morgan who hit .322 with 46 hits last season. Jeff Zordani is looking to improve his slash line from last season that was a .281 average with 39 hits with a team leading 3 home runs and 23 RBI's. Let's not forget about the speedster Jeremiah Vison who hit .275 and led the team with 14 stolen bases.
