Huntington Beach, Calif. - The Golden West College (2-5-2, 1-5) women's soccer team lost a tight match to Irvine Valley College (1-7-4, 1-2-3) 1-0 Tuesday afternoon.
Irvine Valley controlled the ball to start the match which paid dividends with an early goal scored in the 12th minute to take the lead 1-0. The Rustlers responded by eating into the time of possession battle in the first half but couldn't find the back of the net.
The second half saw both teams struggle to move from midfield to produce any offensive looks as each defense dug in and played tough. The Ruslers only managed three shots on goal while the Lasers managed five shots for the match with one goal for their first victory of the season.
