W Volleyball: Falls in Three Sets to Pirates

Huntington Beach, Calif. - The Golden West volleyball squad fell in straight sets 25-14, 25-21, 25-22 to the Orange Coast College Pirates Wednesday night.

It was a slow start that seemed to keep the Rustlers (6-2, 0-2) down during the first set as the Pirates (9-1, 2-0) cruised to an early 1-0 set lead. Opposite Sierra Emil led the charge for the Rustlers with a team best .300 hitting percentage and 8 kills.

Golden West seemed to get things going in the second and third sets has they battled in both but ultimately succombed to the consistancy of the Pirates attack. Madison Holmes also led the attack for the Rustlers with 8 kills on the night.

Freshman setter, Shayna Johnson did all she could recorded 22 assists in the match and Mia Lara led the Rustlers with 12 digs in the loss.
