Riverside, Ca. – Soloman Williams socked a two-out, solo home run in the top of tenth inning to power the Golden West College Rustlers to a 3-2 win over the host Riverside City College Tigers (18-11, 7-7) men's baseball team Tuesday afternoon.
Williams went three for four on the day with two runs, including the solo shot, his first of the year, to pace Golden West (19-9, 7-6).
The Rustlers took a 1-0 in the top of the second inning on a RBI single by sophomore RF Sean Whiteman, then tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the sixth on a RBI sacrifice fly by pinch hitter Andrew Yazdanbakhsh which drove in Williams.
Riverside scored in the fourth and fifth innings but could not squeeze by the Rustlers 1 run lead.
Golden West freshman Michael Farris pitched two innings to notch his first win of the season (1-1). An interesting side note was that none of the Tigers' three pitchers recorded a strikeout.
