Baseball Lands Four All-Conference Selections; Rodriguez and Martinez Named to First Team
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. - Golden West College is proud to announce that four Rustler baseball players have earned All-Orange Empire Conference (OEC) honors following a standout 2025 season. Sophomore first baseman Jonny Rodriguez and sophomore outfielder Bryan Martinez were named to the All-OEC First Team, while freshman infielder Kevin Villegas and freshman outfielder Zack Burrow garnered Second Team recognition.
First Team Selections
Jonny Rodriguez capped off a dominant season as one of the premier hitters in the Orange Empire Conference. The sophomore slugger led the Rustlers and the OEC with a staggering .414 batting average, tallying 72 hits, 47 RBIs, and 6 home runs across 40 games. Rodriguez also posted an impressive .483 on-base percentage and .621 slugging percentage, making him one of the most complete offensive threats in the league. Defensively, he was a rock at first base, committing just 4 errors in 314 chances for a .987 fielding percentage.
Bryan Martinez was a force in the middle of the lineup, launching a team-leading 12 home runs and driving in 46 runs with a .305 batting average. Martinez posted a .609 slugging percentage, highlighting his ability to produce extra-base hits with regularity. His athleticism and strong outfield defense also contributed to a solid .976 fielding percentage across 40 games.
Second Team Selections
Kevin Villegas, a freshman middle infielder, quickly made his presence known in his debut season. Villegas batted .348 with 49 hits and 24 RBIs, while drawing 25 walks and stealing 11 bases. His .460 on-base percentage was among the team's best, and his consistent play up the middle was marked by a .967 fielding percentage.
Zack Burrow also made a strong impact in his first collegiate season. The freshman outfielder hit .375 over 34 games with 36 hits, 15 RBIs, and a .429 on-base percentage. Burrow demonstrated poise and productivity at the plate, while also playing error-free baseball for much of the season, finishing with a .985 fielding percentage.
Golden West finished the season with a 22-20 overall record while going 10-11 in the OEC, competing in one of the toughest conferences in California.
