Huntington Beach, Calif. - Sophomore midfielder, Jonathan Ruiz converts on his PK attempt to lift the Rustlers to victory in their Orange Empire Conference opener over visiting Fullerton College, 1-0.
It was a great lead pass from sophomore attacker Rickey Briseno that setup Ruiz for a shot on goal when he was taken down inside the 18yd box the led to the PK attempt in the 65th minute. Golden West had a few other opportunities to build on their lead but just couldn't convert.
Freshman goalkeeper Benjamin Grismann earned the shutout while stopping five shots.
Golden West will travel to Cypress on Friday, October 1st for a 3pm kickoff.
