Ian Wheeler of Golden West took finished first in the grueling 1650 Freestyle with a time of 16:13.23, teammate Garrett Pickford then picked up first in the 200 Backstroke (1:56.77). Golden West picked up another first with Fletcher Norseen's 44.97 100 Freestyle. The 200 Breaststroke gave Saddleback their first hardware with Conner Powers-Hubbard finishing his race in 2:07.52. Daniel Roa of Golden West touched first in the 200 Butterfly, completing the event in 1:52.08. And for the final win of the night, it was Golden West who took first in the 400 Free Relay. The men finished on top with a time of 3:03.76
Congratulations to Golden West's Men's Swim Team, named the 2013 Orange Empire Conference Champions. This is their first conference title since 2004 and their 30th in program history. The Rustlers produced both Co-Swimmers of the Meet: Ian Wheeler-Dunham for his performances in the 500 Free, 200 Free and the 1650 Free and Daniel Roa in the 200 IM, 400 IM and the 200 Butterfly. The team's dedication and hard work is not over, the men now focus their efforts to the state competition where they will compete against the fastest men in the state.
