Eight Rustlers Earn All-Orange Empire Conference Honors; Frost Named OEC MVP
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. – The championship season for the Golden West College men's water polo program was further highlighted with postseason recognition as eight Rustlers earned All-Orange Empire Conference honors, led by sophomore goalkeeper Boston Frost, who was named the OEC Most Valuable Player.
Frost anchored one of the top defensive units in the state, earning First Team All-OEC honors while posting an outstanding season between the pipes. The sophomore appeared in 32 games with 30 starts, recording 253 saves and a 58.8 save percentage while compiling a 29–2 record and a 93.5 winning percentage. In addition to his goalkeeping excellence, Frost contributed in the field with 40 steals and 14 assists, underscoring his all-around impact.
Joining Frost on the All-OEC First Team were Michael Rodgers, Lucca Van Der Woude, and Jack Wright, giving Golden West four first-team selections.
Rodgers, a sophomore defender, delivered a dominant two-way season, totaling 63 goals, 25 exclusions drawn, and 21 ejections drawn while anchoring the Rustlers' defensive front. Van Der Woude, a freshman attacker, emerged as one of the conference's most dangerous offensive threats, leading Golden West with 65 goals, adding 48 steals, and drawing 34 exclusions on the season. Wright, a sophomore attacker, provided steady production and playmaking with 35 goals, 36 assists, and 28 steals, while shooting over 61 percent from the field.
Golden West added two more honorees on the All-OEC Second Team in Joao Goncalves and Ryder Tonkovich. Goncalves, a sophomore attacker, posted a breakout year with 46 goals, 57 assists, 29 steals, and 27 exclusions drawn, while Tonkovich, a freshman, tallied 48 goals, 23 assists, and 39 steals, finishing with a 61.5 shooting percentage.
Rounding out the Rustlers' award winners were Wemmer Van Beukering and Wyatt Mitchell, who both earned Honorable Mention All-OEC recognition. Van Beukering, a freshman attacker, recorded 35 goals, 29 assists, and an impressive 70.0 shooting percentage, while Mitchell added 32 goals, 43 assists, and 22 steals during his freshman campaign.
The eight All-Conference selections cap a historic season for Golden West, reinforcing the Rustlers' position as the premier men's water polo program in the state.
