Golden West Men’s Water Polo State Champions Excel in the Classroom with 3.4 Team GPA
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. – Golden West College men's water polo head coach Scott Taylor announced that the 2025 state championship Rustlers posted a team GPA of 3.4, marking one of the strongest academic years in program history.
Fresh off capturing their ninth-consecutive 3C2A State Championship in 2025, the Rustlers continued to set the standard beyond the pool, combining championship-level performance with academic excellence. The 3.4 team GPA stands as one of the highest in the program's storied history and reflects the commitment of the student-athletes to success in the classroom.
"This is one of our best years yet," Taylor said. "Collectively, as a group, this is very impressive. GWC men's water polo takes pride in monitoring our student-athletes academically and athletically."
Taylor emphasized that the team's academic achievements are held in equal regard to its on-field success.
"Our 2025 team GPA is just as impressive as winning the state title," Taylor added. "Our staff works hard to monitor our student-athletes in the classroom and in the pool in order to help all of them pursue their goals academically and athletically."
The Golden West men's water polo program has long been recognized for its tradition of excellence, and the 2025 season further reinforced that legacy—proving that championship performance and academic achievement go hand in hand.
