Golden West College Men’s Water Polo Announces Student-Athlete Transfers to Four-Year Universities
Huntington Beach, Calif. — Golden West College Men's water polo is proud to announce that several graduating Rustler student-athletes have committed to outstanding four-year universities to continue their water polo careers and academic journeys.
The Rustlers continue to build a tradition of excellence both in the classroom and in the pool, with this year's transfer class representing NCAA Division I, Division II, and prestigious academic institutions across the country.
"Golden West College Men's Water Polo is excited to announce that our graduating student-athletes have found great universities to continue their water polo and/or academic plans," said the Rustlers head coach Scott Taylor. "These student-athletes are great examples that hard work in the classroom and in the pool pays off. We are very proud of their accomplishments and wish them the best of luck in the future."
University of California San Diego
Four Rustlers will continue their academic and athletic careers at University of California San Diego:
- Boston Frost — Goalkeeper Frost appeared in 22 games while recording 100 saves and a .532 save percentage.
- Michael Rodgers — One of the Rustlers' top offensive performers, Rodgers totaled 79 goals, 21 assists, 35 steals, and shot 58.1% over 38 games.
- Jack Wright — Wright was a key contributor throughout the season, finishing with 51 goals, 40 assists, and 28 steals while appearing in all 39 contests.
- Cade Winston — Winston will focus on his academic path in the prestigious Structural Engineering program at UC San Diego. In the pool, he contributed four goals, six assists, and 19 steals during the season.
California State University, Fullerton
- Daigo Fujita will continue his academic journey at California State University, Fullerton in the accounting program. Fujita appeared in 16 games, recording nine goals and 11 assists during his freshman campaign.
Concordia University Irvine
- Joao Serta Goncalves has committed to Concordia University Irvine to continue his water polo and academic career. Goncalves had an outstanding freshman season with 32 goals, 29 assists, and 37 steals while shooting 57.1%.
University of the Pacific
- Gavin Little will continue his collegiate career at University of the Pacific. Little played in all 39 games, tallying 24 goals, 22 assists, and 17 steals during the season.
Mount St. Mary's University (Pennsylvania)
- Neven Cerkez has committed to Mount St. Mary's University to continue both his academic and water polo career. Cerkez recorded 26 goals and 23 assists while shooting 55.3% during his freshman season.
Whittier College
- Tal Fotin will continue his water polo and academic career at Whittier College. Fotin contributed across the board for the Rustlers, totaling six goals, 13 assists, 15 steals, and 20 exclusions drawn in 36 appearances.
Golden West College continues to serve as a launching point for student-athletes pursuing excellence at the next level, both athletically and academically.
