Huntington Beach, Calif. - Golden West fell 11-4 to the Santa Ana Dons in their second conference match up at home. The Rustlers (1-10, 0-4) had some potential play makers, but in the end Santa Ana's 15-1, 4-1 record spoke for itself.
With the visitors up first, two Dons were walked to start the game. Next up was Santa Ana's first baseman Pere, who's home run brought in 3 runs.
In the bottom of the third, Golden West made it on the scoreboard thanks to a RBI-single from Amber Hollowood, bringing Liz Lindhart home to score.
Santa Ana would then responded with 2 runs in the fourth, 3 more in the fifth and 3 in the sixth, putting the score at 11 - 1 Dons'.
The Rustlers were down, but not out, rebounding with 3 runs in the bottom of the sixth to stay alive. The inning started with Dori Portillo hitting a single, followed by Angie Flores who reached on a fielder's choice. Portillo and Flores advanced bases and a clutch double by Kayla Abusham brought in the RBI. Kiley Dunn's double, after Lindhart was out at first, brought home 2 runs giving the Rustlers another inning to make a play for the win.
