Pereyda Claims 800 Meter Title at the 2025 Orange Empire Conference Championships
COSTA MESA, Calif. – The Golden West College women's track and field team delivered an impressive showing at the 2025 Orange Empire Conference Championships, held Saturday, April 26 at Orange Coast College. With standout performances in both track and field events, the Rustlers showcased their depth, determination, and bright future.
Freshman Lowyn Pereyda stole the spotlight, capturing the conference championship in the 800 meters with a winning time of 2:31.34 and earning 10 points for the team. Pereyda also secured a second-place finish in the 1500 meters, clocking 5:06.27 to add eight more points to the Rustlers' team total.
Freshman Jaden Campuzano turned in a strong all-around meet, placing sixth in the 100-meter hurdles finals with a time of 18.00 in extremely windy conditions. She also competed in the 100 meters (14.10, 13th place), 200 meters (29.16, 17th place), and finished ninth in the long jump with a mark of 4.36m (14'3.75").
Golden West's 4x100-meter relay team, composed of Onwua Cairns, Jaden Campuzano, Geraldine Miranda, and Kayse Laird, placed fifth with a time of 59.09 seconds, contributing valuable points to the team standings.
In the field events, freshman Natalia Ramirez delivered a top performance, placing fifth in the discus throw with a personal best of 33.18 meters (108'10"), earning four points. Ramirez also finished 10th in the shot put with a throw of 9.29 meters (30'5.75").
