No. 2 Rustlers Look to Continue Unbeaten Run, Host No. 9 Cerritos for Central League Lead
No. 2 state-ranked Golden West College (7-0, 4-0 NCL) returns home to host No. 9 Cerritos College (6-1, 4-0 NCL) in a National Central League showdown on Saturday (Oct. 25). Kickoff is scheduled for noon at Rustler Stadium in Huntington Beach.
Golden West, Cerritos, and Fullerton (6-1) are all currently tied for first place in the National Central League standings at 4-0 with three games to play.

RANKINGS | Golden West continues to hold steady with the No. 2 position for the third straight week in the most recent JC Athletic Bureau state poll of California community college football coaches. Cerritos rose three spots to No. 9 in this week's rankings.
LAST WEEK | Golden West continued its dominance of rival Orange Coast College as the Rustlers rolled to an impressive 69-6 victory over the Pirates in the 55th meeting of the Battle of the Bell game on Saturday at OCC's LeBard Stadium. The Rustlers won their eighth straight rivalry game over the Pirates since 2016 while Golden West has taken 13 of the last 14 matchups.
The Rustlers controlled all facets of last Saturday's game. Golden West totaled a season-high 662 yards of offense while the defense limited Orange Coast to just nine first downs and returned a pair of interceptions for touchdowns.
Golden West held a slim 7-6 lead at the 9:42 mark in the first quarter before going on to score 62 unanswered points.
Nine different Rustlers found the end zone with a trio of quarterbacks tossing touchdown passes in the dominant effort. Kauna'oa Kamakawiwo'ole (7-10-213, 2 TDs), Noa Banua (5-7-92, 2 TDs), and Drew Larson (2-3-26, 1 TD) combined for 331 yards on 14 of 20 passing with 5 TDs and no interceptions.
ABOUT CERRITOS | The Falcons stunned visiting Pasadena City College with a 36-35 comeback win on Saturday. Cerritos trailed 21-10 late in the second quarter and was down 28-17 heading into the fourth before the Falcons outscored PCC 19-7 the rest of the way to pull out the win.
Quarterback Jeremiah Calvin completed 19 of 40 passes for 272 yards and a pair of TDs while running in for the game-winning seven-yard touchdown with 2:45 remaining in the game.
The Falcons have won six straight games since opening the season with a 45-20 loss at home against Mt. SAC.
LAST YEAR | Golden West cruised to a 34-7 victory at home in Week 9 of the 2024 season. Quarterback Will Burns ran for three touchdowns and passed for another to help lead the Rustlers to the win. The Rustlers' defense was solid, allowing just 34 yards rushing. GWC recovered a fumble, had an interception, and totaled two sacks.
The Rustlers have won the last two meetings (2024, 2023) between the squads.
