Rustlers Roll Past Santa Barbara City College for Sixth Straight Win
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. – The Golden West College Rustlers men's volleyball team continued its unbeaten start to the 2026 season on Friday afternoon, sweeping Santa Barbara City College 3-0 (25-13, 25-21, 25-21) at home to improve to 6-0 on the year.
Golden West controlled the match from start to finish, opening with a dominant first set in which the Rustlers hit an impressive .500 while holding the Vaqueros to just .040. The Rustlers followed with composed performances in the final two sets to secure the straight-sets victory.
Aidan Dubno led all players with 11 kills on .333 hitting, adding a service ace and four block assists to finish with a team-high 14.0 points. Gino Viggiano turned in an efficient night offensively, recording six kills without an error on .429 hitting, while also contributing an ace, a solo block, and five digs.
Golden West's balanced attack continued with AJ Kuebrich posting six kills on .444 hitting, and Travis Vandeluyster adding five kills and five block assists. Frankie Gates chipped in four kills on .375 hitting, and John Braunstein orchestrated the offense with 20 assists, two service aces, and five digs.
Defensively, the Rustlers were steady throughout the match, limiting Santa Barbara to a .100 team hitting percentage. Kenneth Olmos anchored the back row with a team-high seven digs, while Golden West finished with 14 total block assists at the net.
With the sweep, Golden West remains perfect at 6-0 and continues to build momentum early in the season as they travel to El Camino College on Wednesday, February 11th for a 6pm start.
