Offense is Laser Sharp as Rustlers Roll at Home
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. - The Golden West College Rustlers men's volleyball continued its dominant run through the 2026 season on Wednesday night, sweeping the Irvine Valley College Lasers men's volleyball 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-11) at the GWC Gym.
With the victory, Golden West improved to 15-0 overall and 5-0 in conference play, maintaining its perfect record while delivering one of its most efficient offensive performances of the season.
The Rustlers set the tone early in the opening set, attacking at a .400 hitting percentage while limiting Irvine Valley's offensive rhythm. Golden West built a steady lead and closed the frame with a 25-19 win.
Golden West continued to control the match in set two, again posting 16 kills while hitting .361 as a team. Strong serving pressure and consistent ball control allowed the Rustlers to maintain separation throughout the set on the way to a 25-18 victory.
The third set was a dominant performance from the Rustlers, who overwhelmed the Lasers with a balanced offensive attack and disciplined defense. Golden West hit .400 in the final set and limited Irvine Valley to a negative -.150 hitting percentage while cruising to a 25-11 win to complete the sweep.
Noah Nelson led all players with 14 kills on .458 hitting, adding eight digs and a service ace to pace the Rustlers offensively. Gino Viggiano contributed eight kills on .438 hitting, while Aidan Dubno added seven kills, two service aces, and five digs.
Middle blocker AJ Kuebrich was highly efficient at the net, finishing with six kills on .750 hitting while adding four block assists. Travis Vandeluyster also made the most of his opportunities, recording three kills on three attempts.
Setter John Braunstein directed the Rustlers' offense with 22 assists, helping Golden West finish the match with 46 kills and a .385 team hitting percentage. Defensively, Kenneth Olmos anchored the back row with nine digs, while the Rustlers totaled 46 team digs and 13 block assists.
The Rustlers will travel to Santiago Canyon on Friday, March 13th for a 6pm matchup.
