Rustlers Stay Perfect with Dominant Sweep of Fullerton
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. - The Golden West College Rustlers men's volleyball continued its blistering start to the 2026 season on Thursday afternoon, cruising to a 3-0 home sweep of the Fullerton College Hornets men's volleyball by scores of 25-10, 25-18, and 25-16 at the GWC Gym.
Golden West (8-0) controlled the match from the opening serve, posting its most efficient offensive set of the day in the opener by hitting .565 while holding Fullerton to a negative -.107 attack percentage. The Rustlers followed with a strong second set at .444 before closing out the sweep in the third.
Aidan Dubno led the way with an outstanding all-around performance, recording eight kills without an error on .727 hitting, along with a service ace and three digs. Gino Viggiano was equally efficient, tallying a match-high 10 kills on .667 hitting, adding an assist and five digs as Golden West's offense clicked throughout the afternoon.
Noah Nelson chipped in seven kills on .385 hitting with an ace, while Frankie Gates added six kills on .333 efficiency. Colin Harper provided a spark off the bench with three kills on .500 hitting, and Travis Vandeluyster contributed a kill and two block assists.
At setter, John Braunstein directed the offense with 22 assists, adding an ace and helping the Rustlers finish the match hitting .403 as a team. Defensively, Keegan Martyn anchored the back row with a team-high 13 digs, as Golden West limited Fullerton to just 18 total kills across three sets.
With the sweep, the Rustlers improved to 8-0 on the season and will travel to Long Beach City on Wednesday, February 18th for a 6pm start.
