Beach Volleyball Earns Key Wins on the Road

Irvine, Calif. - Golden West College's beach volleyball squad showcased its strength in a pair of road victories, topping host Irvine Valley College 4-1 and then Riverside City College 4-1 in the afternoon.
Golden West 4, Irvine Valley 1
The Rustlers set the tone early at Irvine Valley College, picking up four wins in a dominant showing.
- At the No. 2 pair, Jenna Zaffino and Cassandra Zoellers swept Anderson/Mersin (21-19, 21-12).
- Jalisa Costa and Elyse Varipapa were in sync at the No. 3 slot, in a sweep win over Lopez/Quindoza (21-11, 21-19).
- Fabiana Padilla and Lola Larson won via forfeit at No. 4.
- Keely Larson and Trinity Webber won via forfeit at No. 5.
The only loss came at No. 1, where Hayden Johnston and Maren Matthews fell just short in three tight sets to Bennett/Fowler (16-21, 21-12, 14-16).

Later in the day, the Rustlers continued their success against RCC with another convincing team victory.
- Johnston and Matthews bounced back at No. 1 with a dominant 21-6, 21-3 sweep over De Leon/Myers.
- Zaffino and Zoellers went the distance at No. 2, outlasting Chaffee/Isgar 21-13, 15-21, 21-19.
- Costa and Varipapa swept at No. 3, defeating Bishop/Oaks 21-12, 21-16.
- K. Larson and Webber grabbed the final point at No. 5 with a 21-14, 21-12 win over Irish/Reyes.
The only dropped match came at No. 4, where Padilla and L. Larson fell in a tight three-setter to Kniss/Monge (21-12, 10-21, 9-15).
