Golden West Pairs Ready to Compete at 2025 SoCal Regional Beach Volleyball Pairs Championships
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. — Golden West College Beach Volleyball will be represented by two pairs at the 2025 Southern California Regional Pairs Championship, as Hayden Johnston and Maren Matthews and Jenna Zaffino and Cassandra Zoellers prepare to take on the best duos in the state this Friday, May 2, in the 32-team field.
The Rustlers' top pair, Johnston and Matthews, enter the tournament as the #10 seed following an exceptional season that included a third-place finish at the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Pairs Championship and First Team All-OEC honors. They will open their regional campaign against #23 Long/Husek of Santa Barbara City College in Match 13. A win would advance them into the round of 16 with a shot at moving one step closer to qualifying for the 3C2A State Championship.
Also representing Golden West are Zaffino and Zoellers, who come in as the #28 seed after finishing 9th in the OEC Pairs Championship and earning Second Team All-OEC recognition. They will face a tough first-round matchup against #5 Thomsen/Papia of Santa Barbara City College in Match 3. Zaffino and Zoellers have proven their ability to battle top-tier competition and will look to make a strong statement in their regional debut.
The SoCal Regionals are held in a double-elimination format, with the top finishers earning a berth to the 2025 3C2A Beach Volleyball State Pairs Championship.
